Is the Mac app different from the web version?

No. It is the same product in a native window, with notifications, a Dock badge and the system appearance on top. Anything you do in one shows up in the other.

Does it work offline?

It needs an internet connection, like WhatsApp itself. Conversations and boards live on Calypso's servers and sync the moment you are back online.

Which Macs does it support?

Any Mac running macOS 10.15 or later, Apple silicon or Intel, in a single universal build.

The product inside the app updates whenever the web does, with nothing to install. New versions of the app itself are published on the download page.

What the app adds

Only on the Mac.

Native notifications

A new conversation reaches you as a macOS notification, even while you are in another app.

Unread badge in the Dock

The count of new conversations sits on the icon, so a glance tells you whether to switch.

Follows your Mac

Light or dark with the system appearance, and your Mac's language unless you choose another.
