How Meta bills
The rules behind the numbers.
1,000 free service messages a month
Since October 1, 2026, replies inside the 24-hour window are billed again. Each business phone number gets its first 1,000 a month free.
Utility replies are billed too
Utility messages sent inside an open customer service window were free from July 2025; they are billed again from October 1, 2026.
Click-to-WhatsApp ads open a free window
Answer someone who came from a click-to-WhatsApp ad within the service window and Meta opens a free entry point window of up to 7 days: no charge for marketing, utility, authentication or service messages.
Volume tiers on utility and authentication
The more you send to a market in a month, the lower the rate. Each tier's rate applies only to the messages inside it, counted across your business portfolio and reset monthly.
Rates change only four days a year
Meta updates pricing only on January 1, April 1, July 1 or October 1, with notice ahead. Next possible change: January 1, 2027.
16 official currencies
Meta publishes the card in local currencies too, such as MXN, BRL, CLP and INR. Those rates are Meta's own, not exchange-rate conversions.
Meta Business Agent is priced apart
Meta's own AI agent costs $2.00 per million tokens, about 4 to 5 US cents a message by Meta's estimate. Tiers and free windows don't apply to it.
Provider fees come on top
Everything here is Meta's charge. A WhatsApp provider may add its own per-message markup or a monthly plan.
